The Iron County Cancer Unit board would like to express our gratitude to all who helped with the donated time, talent and money during our Telephone Time fund-raiser. This was Dick Boyd's seventh ride across the country in support of Iron County cancer patients. Thanks to all of your support, and Dick Boyd, our Telephone Time fund drive netted $7,744.55 in pledges that were honored.

With these funds we are able to assist Iron County cancer patients with protheses (wigs/breast), food supplements, colostomy supplies, cancer related medications, cost of transportation, meals and lodging for out of town treatment and respite care (patient care at home). At the present time we have $500 per patient year available. We have had 47 applications so far this year. The only requirement to apply is that you are an Iron County resident and have cancer.

In October we moved our loan closet equipment and supplies to a new location. We are renting the building behind Family Foods at 321 Cayuga Street in Iron River. A big thank you to John Detterbeck for allowing us to use his building until we could find another place. We have hospital equipment (as available) to loan out for cancer patient use.

The Iron County Cancer Unit is dedicated to serving our local residents. We are an all volunteer non-profit organization and 100% of all donations stay in Iron County. We are not part of the American Cancer Society or any other organization. Our board members are Jolane Spoke, Faye Plessinger, Linda Colombino, Marguerite Christian, and Beverley Dallafior.
